Most, if not all, children in our Urban Explorers after-school program, have shown a natural interest in their environment. While riding their bikes, they often ask to stop to explore something of interest they have discovered on the way to their destination. In order to capture their interest, and, while building on their riding skills, TFK will launch its EYE program in the summer of 2004. Thanks in part to a generous grant from SEEAL (Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance), children will have an opportunity to enhance their learning of math & science while riding their bikes to designated natural sites in-and-around the city. The program is guided by the Mass Curriculum Frameworks and will be implemented by three middle school teachers, one of whom is GLOBE (Global Learning and Observation to Better the Environment) certified.
